In 2004 a group of interfaith advocates from Los Angeles attended the Parliament of World's Religions in Barcelona, Spain. Inspired and motivated by their experience, when they returned home they gathered together to continue sharing the vigor and excitement of the Parliament and, in 2007 they officially formed the Southern California Committee for a Parliament of the World's Religions (SCCPWR) dedicated to locally supporting and promoting the vision and mission of the GLOBAL PARLIAMENT OF THE WORLD'S RELIGIONS.
A California delegation of SCCPWR Board, Emeritus and Advisory members as well as local interfaith community participated at the 6th Parliament of Religions in Toronto, 1-7 of November, 2018.
The first time the Parliament was held in the U.S. since 1993 was 5th PoWR in Salt Lake City in 2015.
